Day 12-11-18 - Fantastic Space & How to Reach There
A tribute to astronomer Annie Jump Cannon (Dec 11, 1863 - Apr 13, 1941), & aerodynamicist Qian XueSen (錢學森 Dec 11, 1911 - Oct 31, 2009), for their shared Dec 11th birthday.
Cannon manually classified around 350,000 stars based on their spectral characteristics. Her cataloging works was instrumental in the development of stellar classification.
Qian’s was one of the founders of Jet Propulsion Laboratory, contributed in advancements of aerodynamics, jet propulsion, and space program (China).
